Visa

All  applications for tourist visas shall be submitted  by tour operators in the prescribed visa Application form in triplicate to Tourism Authority of Bhutan (TAB)  well in advance to allow required time of one week for processing with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As far as possible, 3 copies of original passport photographs must be furnished with the visa applications. However, if this is not possible, the photographs must be presented by visitors on arrival to the visa officer at the entry point.

Types of visa and cost: Tourist: US$20 (payable in hard currency).
You will pay this fee at the Paro airport when you arrive in Bhutan.

7 Nights/8 Days Bhutan Cultural Tour

 

 

Day 01:

 

11.30 Hrs: Transfer from Hotel in Kathmandu to Tribhuvan International Airport to board departure Druk Air flight KB 203 to Paro (Bhutan) at 13.55 Hrs..

15.05 Hrs: Upon arrival at Paro endorsement of Bhutan visa on each group members’ passport by Immigration Authority of Bhutan paying US $ cash 20/- + Tourism Development Fee (TDF) Cast US$ 10/- per person. Meet, assist and transfer to hotel.

Day 02:
The flight into the Himalayas reveals breathtaking views of the great peaks, taking you right into the Dragon Kingdom's cloud scraping airstrip at Paro (Altitude 7000 ft.). Your Bhutanese escort will great you on arrival and drive you through beautiful Paro valley to the hotel. Situated on a breezy pine scented hillside.
After refreshment take a stroll around the little town at Paro. (Breakfast, dinner).

Day 03 : Paro:

Sightseeing includes:
A drive to the ruins of Drugyel Dzong (18 kms up Paro valley).
Built in 1647 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to commemorate his victory over the Tibetan invaders. On a clear day, the 7314m white-domed peak of sacred Mt. Chomolhari (Mountain of Goddess) looms overhead. Then, visit the Taa Daong - The National museum, housed in an ancient watch-tower. This museum has fine collection of ancient thankas paintings, textiles, weapons and other artifacts.
Evening at leisure. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner).

Dinner and overnight at Hotel.

 

Day 04 : Paro - Day excursion to Taktsang & back.

After early at Hotel, morning drive to Satsam Chorten and take a 2 hours hike to Taksang 9800m above the valley floor) till the viewpoint of the Monastery. A light refreshment/lunch will be served at the cafeteria Taktsang Jakhant. The walk back to satsam Chorten and drive to hotel.
Evening at leisure. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner).
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 05 : Paro - Thimpu ( 2 Hrs drive, 68 kms

After breakfast at Hotel, a 2 hours drive through the Paro and Thimpu valleys to the capital of Bhutan - Thimpu. Drive to hotel. After lunch, visit the Memorial visit the Handicrafts Emporium. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner).
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 06 : Thimphiu- Punakha/Wangdi (3 Hrs' drive, 101 KMS).
After breakfast at Hotel, drive to Punakha which takes you through Dochula pass, 3100M, - site of one of Bhutan's most enchanting views. On a clear day the whole range of the Himalayas stretching from east to west can be viewed. The journey continues through. Varying secenes of greenery to Punakha. View the Punakha Dzong from outside. This Dzong (fort) is set on the junction of the two rifer Phochu (male river) on the right and Mochu (female river) with their waters merging right in front at present, this Dzong serves as the winter residence for the Jo Khenpo, the chief Abbot of the central monk Body.
From Punakha, we rejoin the east-west highway at Lobeysa and continue eastwards at the Lodge. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner).

Day 07 : Wangdiphodrang - Thimphu (3 Hrs' drive).
After breakfast at Hotel, drive back to Thimpu.
Sightseeing in Thimpu includes - visit to the painting school of Buddhist Art` the national Library, which holds a vast collection of ancient Buddhist manuscript, and the indigenous hospital, where centuries old healing arts are still practiced. Then, visit the handicrafts emporium Meals and overnight hotel. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner).

Day 08 : Thimphu - Paro (2 Hrs' drive).
After breakfast at Hotel, aleisure drive to Paro.
Meals and overnight at the hotel. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner).

Day 09 : Paro - Kathmandu.
Early breakfast at the hotel and then drive to the airport to board the Druk Air flight KB 202 to Kathmandu at 07.30 Hrs. Your Bhutanese escort will assist you with exit formalities and bid you farewell.

08.25 Hrs: Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Meet, assist and transfer to Hotel. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner).

DAY 01: Arrive Paro by Druk Air Flight:

During this flight, one will experience breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Kanchanjunga and other Himalayan Peaks including sacred Chomolhari and Mt. Jichu Drake in Bhutan. On arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be received by a representative and drive to Olathang Hotel through Paro valley is enchanting. After lunch you will be taken to Ta- Dzong (Museum). Overnight at Olathang Hotel.

 

DAY 02: Paro- Thimphu:

This morning follow the winding road beside the Pa Chu (Chu means river or water) down stream to its confluence with the Wangchu then up- valley to Thimphu, the capital. Afternoon lunch at the Hotel. After lunch visit the Memorial Chorten, here the faithful circumambulate the shrine dedicated to the Late King telling their prayer beads as they walk. Overnight in Hotel.

 

DAY 03: Thimphu - Gangtey Gompa:

After breakfast leave for Gangtey. The road winds through the forest to Dochla (La means pass), where in good weather 200 miles of Himalayan summits are in view. After driving 3hours you will reach Wangdi. Lunch at wangdi. After a further 3hours drive  you  will reach Gangtey. Overnight in camp.

 

DAY 04: Gangtey Gompa- Halt:

For the eager and active trekker good fishing can be done by hiking down to the river or day hike in and around Gangtey valley can also be done to stretch the legs for onward trek.

 

DAY 05: Gangtey Gompa-Halt:

A moderate trail winds through meadows and fields then  ascends  the Tselela pas through mixed forests of Juniper, bomboo, Magnolia and rhododendrons. The people of Gogona speak a language called Bjopkha the language of nomads. Their life in this isolated valley has encouraged  them to continue using their ancient dialect. Distance is about 15KM about 6/7 hours

 

DAY 06: Gogona - Khotakha:

A gentle climb  leads to Shobjula 11,155ft. The descend leads to a wide valley, reminiscent of the big sky views of mountain. Overnight in tent. Distance is about 15/16 KM about 6/7 hours.

 

DAY 07: Khotakha- chuzomas/ wangdi via Nizergang:

A short ascend leads to the Tsshila 9,200ft. Be sure to fill your water bottle shortly after crossing the pass, as the descend is dry. Walk down through ever- changing vegetation into the drainage of the Dang chu. Overnight in Wangdi Guest House.

 

DAY 08: Wangdi - Thimphu

After breakfast drive to punakha Dzong view point at the north end of the Punakha  valley. It was the nation's capital until 1966. The Je - Khempo, the head abbot of the religion in the country and most of the monks of Thimphu occupy this throughout the winter since the lower elevation of this valley has more comfortable temperature. Return over the Dochula pass and stop at cafeteria for a hot cup of tea and some snacks and also if the Himalayan snow- capped mountain continue to drive to Thimphu. Overnight in Hotel.

 

DAY 09: Thimphu - Paro Airport. Drive to International Airport at pare for onward flight.

 

SEASON: March - April - May - September - November

CLIMATE (GENERAL):

Days are normally warm. Nights can at times be very cool and  in winter even below the freezing point. Monsoon showers on summer (heaviest July & August) and sometimes even is Spring and Autumn.       

                              

WHAT TO BRING:

PERSONAL CLOTHING:

Strong normal clothing (according to season ). Preferably cotton even for summer, woolen clothing for the evening and winter.

 

FOR TREKKING:

Strong comfortable trekking boots, sunglasses, headgear, raincoat & warm clothing for the evenings.A sleeping bag is a must. Medium heavy to heavy is advised. A torch light will also be very handy.

(NOTE: For trekking a load of 25Kg is allowed).

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Bishkek in the early morning, transfer to the hotel. Time to rest, then a city sightseeing tour including: Ala-Too Square, Philarmonic, Statue of Manas, Victory Square, etc Lunch. Continue city tour and free time. Dinner in restaurant, accommodation in the hotel.

Day 2: After breakfast we start our drive to Naryn, where on the way we have lunch in Kochkor, a small, very likeable town. Dinner, overnight in a comfortable guest house “Celestial Mountains”.

Day 3: After breakfast drive to Tash-Rabat, the old, very well-preserved caravanserey of the Great Silk Road. Lunch. Sightseeing around. Rest by your own. Accommodation in the yurts.

Day 4: Early morning after breakfast drive to Torugart Pass on to the Kyrgyz-Chinese border. Tourists are met on the border, then further transfer on down to the Chinese Custom first. It takes about 1 hour to pass over the Chinese Customs. Then continue your driving and move into Kashgar. Over night in one of 2 star level Hotel. Distance from the border to Kashgar is about 180 km. Road condition is good enough for bus driving. It normally takes about 7 hours to get Kashgar by driving from the border.

Day 5: Take a ride by bus to do sightseeing and excursions: take a local taxi – Donkey Cart to visit the Abahja Family Tombs, Hat market. Then visit a local family, share a delicious lunch with this family at lunch; take a ride by bus to visit the Grand Atigar Mosque after lunch, take a walk in the Handcrafts Lanes. Leave for the airport in the evening in order to catch up your flight CZ6802 which departure at 22:20 PM. This flight takes you about one 1 and 40 minutes. As soon as you arrive at Urumqi, further transfer to one of 3 star level hotel for night.

Day 7: It takes about 2 hours by driving to take you to the Heavenly Lake. As soon as you get there, take a boat tour on this beautiful lake. After enjoying a Kazak tasty lunch in a yurt restaurant, return to Urumqi. Visit the Xinjiang Historical Museum, climb up to the top of the Red Hill Park to get the bird views of this whole capital city, take a walk in the famous Minority Street, enjoy a splendid local singing and dancing performance at your banquet dinner in the Grand Xinjiang International Bazaar. Take a walk in the biggest Night Food Market after all.

Day 8: Leave for the airport to catch up your international flight to leave away from Urumqi. All services end.
